No One Killed Jessica Movie Review

No One Killed Jessica is a movie loosely based on the famous and sensational Jessica Lall Murder Case that rocked the nation and made headlines for more than a decade. The first half of the film simply flies by, without you even taking notice. It details all the events leading to the model’s murder and the court trail, where the accused is acquitted, despite having close to 300 witnesses and 3 prime eye-witnesses. During the second half, plot is dramatized with Media Activism as backdrop. Using a television news reporter as central protagonist, it goes on showing how Media mobilized General Public, through Constant SMS Activism, Candlelight March and many more of such public uproar, to stand up against the injustice delivered by Judiciary System and fight for a common cause, i.e, Justice.

Talking about the star-cast and their performance, I would say, a very commendable effort from almost all the protagonists. Vidya Balan brilliantly portrays the role of Sabrina, symbolizing a ordinary citizen’s fight for justice and the eventuality of their helplessnesses in the wake of strong unyielding political clouts in the country. She is the heart and soul of the film and carries the film almost single-handedly in the first half. Rani’s character portrays a thick-skinned, straight-talking star reporter, who spits out four-lettered words, almost at the drop of a hat. Although at some places, she goes somewhat overboard and her performance looks over the top.

After playing comic characters in Khosla Ka Ghosla(Remember Munjaal Sahab 🙂 and Ishqiya, Rajesh Sharma is noteworthy in his first serious role as a tough-cop in charge of the case, Neil Bhoopalam as the prime witness who turns hostile puts in a confident act. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub bears a close resemblance to Manu Sharma and portrays his character of a politician’s hot-headed sun with conviction.

Composer Amit Trivedi has done an excellent job with Music and background score. Raj Kumar Gupta does a good job in directing the move, after all this is what we all expected from him, the expectations were not unrealistic though, especially after watching Aamir (If you have not watched already, go, get a DVD for Aamir, his last directorial venture).

So the final verdict is No One Killed Jessica is a Must Watch and is all set to go down as one of the best movies of 2011, but after watching the first half, you wonder if it could have been better and more hard-hitting?? One part that was certainly missing was the High-Court-Trial that resulted into accused Manu Sharma‘s conviction, I personally feel they should have shown something out of that trial, as to how they fought a system, while still being part of the same system.

Shweta Tiwari Declared The Winner Of Bigg Boss Season 4

After witnessing some great fights(albeit on-screen), shouting, back-biting, noise making, abusing, making lewd comments, court fights, moral policing et al, Shweta Tiwari has finally been declared as Winner of Reality Show Bigg Boss Season 4 and as a result, walked way with the prize money of Rs 1 Crore. She is the first ever female contestant in Bigg Boss arena to have won the First Position. In the final round, a total of 4 contestant were left, Shweta Tiwai, Great Khali, Ashmit Patel and Dolly Bindra. The Great Khali and Ashmit Patel were declared  as first and second runners up for the show. Kan Khau Award went to Sara Khan, while Drama Baaz Award went to Manoj Tiwari. While Shwera walked way with a beautiful Chevrolet Car, all three runners-up took home a Suzuki Motor Bike each, while actor-model Sameer Soni received a Chevrolet Cruze as a special prize for being the boldest and most stylish participant of this season.

Even though there were number of ups and downs, good and bad things happened over past 90 days in Bigg Boss’ house, one thing was sure, Audience got full Paisa-Vasool Entertainment. Although people tried all sorts of tricks in book to grab audience’s attention and garner votes for themselves, Audience was not to be fooled and in the end, they chose whom they thought was the most clean in terms of their conduct on the show. So we can say, Shewta Tiwari deserved the crown more than any one else. Veena Malik by showing her skin and Dolly Bindra by abusing others can only result into an Increased TRP for the show, but audience would never like to see them as winners, whereas Shweta was having immense control on her mouth and behaved well with everybody and hardly foul-mouthed anyone. No wonder, audience voted for her and helped her win the coveted 1st prize.

With a charming character and nature as clean as a slate, she was a hot favourite in Bigg Boss 4 house and one of the top two paid contestants on the show. With this win, Shweta Tiwari now joined the league of Rahul Roy, Ashutosh Kaushik and Vindu Dara Singh who became the winners of Big Boss Season 1,2 and 3. When being asked as to what would she do with this much money, she replied that she would like to keep it for her daughter’s future.

‘Tees Maar Khan’ Movie Review

Tees Maar Khan, one of the most anticipated movie of year 2010, has hit the box-office. The movie is a let down in terms of entertainment and comedy, but  the only good thing about this movie is Katrina Kaif’s “Sheila Ki Jawaani“. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket just for an item song featuring  seductress Katrina Kaif at her sexiest, then you should go, Otherwise it’s a full wastage of your money.

After watching Main Hoon Naa and Om Shanti Om, the last thing that we can expect from Farah Khan is a thought provoking movie. It’s a heist film, a typical Bollywood masala movie. The plot for the movie is very old and time-worn that I am sure you must have seen N number of times already. Some of us may even go to the extent of calling this a plotless flick !! What else we can expect from Farah ?? Through her unique style, she has tried changing the simple plot of movie to a full package, consisting of action, thriller, romance and wit. She succeeds in creating a magic during the first half, but fails miserably in doing so during the second half. In fact, the audience may feel disconnected in the latter half.

Even though this has been billed as a family-entertainer, too many fringe-characters, number of sub plots and overused one-liner likes ‘You Dirty Dog’  do anything but to entertain the audience. If the drama fails to touch you, the music (Vishal-Shekhar) doesn’t remain with you too long, either. Of course, Sheela Ki Jawani is an eye-popping item number and frankly speaking, that is only value for your time and money.

Tees Maar Khan Official Theatrical Trailer

Tees Maar Khan, one of the most anticipated movie of 2010, starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Akshaye Khanna and other, is set to hit the screens today. The movie has already generated tremendous buzz in social and media circuits, thanks in no small parts to “Sheila Ki Jawani“, the raunchy, hot and sexy item-song, played out by none other than Katrina herself.

Here is the official theatrical trailer for this movie on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYmpVwrmKT8

Do you think, Tees Maar Khan will prove to be lucky for Akshay, most of whose movies over past couple of years have tanked at box-office without a trace ?? Or this will be just another case of Expectations running all too high without a quality content, as was the case with Kites, Ravan and few other forgettable flicks of 2010 ?? Will Katrina magic work for the nth time or will this be counted as a rare failure for his booming career.

As of now, all we can say is just Wait And Watch. We will know, when audience verdict is out 🙂

“Toonpur Ka Super Hero” Movie Preview

Do you still think that animation movies are only meant for children and not so much for adults and grown-up kids. Bollywood film-makers may think in the same line, but that is definitely not the case with filmmakers in Hollywood. Take for example “Despicable Me”, this movie appealed to adults as much, if not more, as it did to kids.  Could this possibly be due to the fact that our animators are not as good as those in Hollywood or is it because our film makers think that children are stupid and can be taken for granted. The answer to this is a clear no. Today’s kids are far-more smart than those 20 years ago or even 5 years ago. At times, they ask questions which could leave us speechless. So we can’t afford to take our children audience for granted anymore.

Director Kireet Khurana is probably the first one in Bollywood who have realized this and has come up with a movie titled “Toonpur Ka Super Hero” with Ajay and Kajol as lead actors and him as director.  Produced by Krishika Lulla and Kumar Mangat, this is being touted to be India’s first live action animation film – where live characters merge with the cartoons.

It is a story of a reel life superstar accidentally landing in the world of cartoons. Toonpur happens to be a land of toons – Toonasurs (bad toons) and Devtoons (good toons). All the characters in Toonpur come from various cultural backgrounds of India. There is a Sardar, Bengali, Gujarati, Marwadi, Maharashtrian, Bihari, Tamil, Christian and lot more characters from our culturally rich country. So irrespective of what state you belong to, you will find one character, whom you can easily identify and relate with 🙂

Let’s hope the audience turns up in big numbers to watch this first ever 3D and animated bollywood  movie  on Xmas eve i.e, 24th Dec 2010. Hopefully, it will not only entertain both children as well as adults, but also start a new trend in Bollywood and increase  the demand of animators in India !!

“No Problem” Movie Review

Don’t go to watch “No Problem” judging by its name. No Problem is nothing but a misnomer, it in fact is a full problematic movie. The film boasts a starcast consisting of a whole lot of Bollywood stars  Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Sushmita Sen, Suniel Shetty, Kangana Ranaut, Paresh Rawal, Neetu Chandra. It looks like they just tried making a flavoured dish by combining all the spices and all sorts of vegetables. But the dish they cooked turned out to be a disaster and after that they sticked a label ” No Problem” on it and decided to sell it to the audience. I am sure you must have heard of the old proverb, “too many cook spoils the broth”. This movie is a classic case of too many actors spoiling a movie in the name of comedy !!

There’s no doubt that stars are good but the biggest problem with No Problem is it doesn’t have genuinely funny sequences and crackling dialogue and dragged long. Poorly directed by Aneesh Bazmee, this movie is like a script less movie. Music also is bad and can’t save this movie from tanking. My take on this film is “Please don’t watch this movie, unless you want to enjoy a 3 hours sleep in an AC hall :-).  But that you can always get at your home and you don’t even have to spend your hard-earned money also, isn’t it 😉

Band Baaja Baraat which is film under Yash Raj Banner, produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Maneesh Sharma is getting realeased today. The bollywood comedy drama stars Anushka Sharma and  Ranveer Singh are in the lead roles.

it seems like Bittoo (Ranveer Singh) and Shruti (Anushka Sharma) should be able to ‘manage’ the show as  well as they are planning the wedding in movie  and at least not disappoint for sure.

Band Baaja Baraat is a romantic comedy set around the world of wedding planning. Actress Anushka Sharma has referred to this film as a “coming of age story” and “very much a young love story set in Delhi”.Anushka once again gave a natural performance and won the heart of us. Mumbai native Ranveer Singh is a complete newcomer in the movie who is in the lead role opposite of  Anushka.

Marriage season is around the corner and so expect innovative concept of  wedding planners, brain-less humor, new lead pair and punjabi flavored rocking song will be definitely a  youthful entertainer titled BAND BAAJA BAARAT (BBB).

SRK Coming Back On TV

Bollywood superstars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Madhuri Dixit, Malaika Arora Khan and many others have already appeared on the TV in 2010.Now it’s the turn of Bollywood Badshah King Khan. After a gap of three years, Shah Rukh Khan will make a return to small screen. But this time on a different channel with a different show.

SRK will be hosting the Indian version of Wipeout, an American show. This show has been aired in 22 countries and all episodes have been shot in Argentina. It will be interesting to watch most of the participants of Fear Factor and Bigg Boss take part in water-based adventure sports in this reality show.

After the stupendous  success of KBC , where he  replaced Amitabh Bachchan with aplomb as a host for the show’s third season ,  In 2008 he crashed down to earth, when he hosted another game show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? Let’s us all hope Wipeout doesn’t get wiped out similarly 🙂

Manoj Tiwari Cries Foul

Manoj Tiwari, who only recently was ousted from Bigg Boss house, is crying fould. He has blamed the show-organizers for “planning” his ouster beforehand. Tiwari further says that Ashmit Patel, who was also nominated alongside him for the ouster from Bigg Boss house, should have been given the boot but the channel retained him because his closeness to Pakistani actress Veena Malik brought in more eyeballs and TRPs for the show.

The actor also regretted his decision to enter the show, which tarnished his image, after he eventually got portrayed as back-biter among his house-mates.

The actor said though, he did not have a great experience on Bigg Boss, he was planning to make a comeback to the world of reality television very soon.

Preity Zinta Pips Dalai Lama for Himachal Pradesh Brand Ambassador !!

Bollywood actor aka Liril Girl aka Kings XI Punjab’s co-owner Preity Zinta has pipped Nobel laureate Shreee Dalai Lama in a race of becoming the brand ambassador of state of Himachal Pradesh to promote tourism. It came as a surprise to many, as to why Himachal Pradesh government opted for the starlet in stead of spiritual guru Shree Dalai Lama. What got the Himachal government really keen on Zinta was her concern for environment, for which she has become known internationally. Not many people may be aware of it, but Preity Zinta was born and educated in Himachal Pradesh, before she went on to establish herself as an actor in Bollywood.
